Microsoft Surface Pro 2 vs Apple iPad

Microsoft recently unveiled their latest tablet, the Surface Pro 2, set to hit stores soon. The Surface Pro 2 introduces new feature upgrades from the previous first generation tablet. The previous tablet from Microsoft won points for its unique design and approach along with its obvious attempt to rival iPad within the tablet market.
The first generation Surface Pro didn't do as well as Microsoft had hoped, but their latest updated version includes multiple new features that may boost their company's interest within the competitive tablet market.
Compare and Contrast
As you would expect from any of the latest product realises; new updates and features built on from the previous model. The Surface Pro 2 is no different and there are a bunch of new updates and features improved from the previous model. Microsoft also listened to consumer complaints and focused on these areas to further improve on.
Weight:
The new Microsoft tablet hosts a lighter and thinner structure being less then 0.67kg which is slightly heavier than the iPad at 0.64kg, however, with the slightly heavier weight the Surface Pro 2 is thinner measuring only 0.35 inch compared to iPad's 37 inch thickness.
Resolution:
The Surface Pro 2 has improved their display implementing a full DH screen to have 1,920 by 1080 resolution. However, with the full HD the iPad's retina display is slightly better at 2,048 by 1,536. The iPad has greater picture quality with a higher resolution screen.
Storage:
The storage capabilities on both models offer slightly different memory with the Surface Pro 2 available in 32GB or 64GB with an inbuilt microSD card slot to add an additional 64GB. This is great for people who have a lot of data including the storage of files, photos videos and more. The iPad is available with storage capabilities of 16, 32 and 64GB and does not support additional storage cards.
Camera:
The Surface Pro 2 offers a higher quality video for Skyping with friends and family with the front facing 3.5 megapixel camera and 5 megapixel camera on the back. The iPad has a slighter lower megapixel camera of 1.2 megapixels on the front and the rear facing camera of 5 megapixels.
The Surface Pro 2 goes on sale on 22 October for $449 32GB and $549 for the 64GB.
